If you haven’t heard the story of Stafon Johnson by now you are behind the times. If you ever lifted weights this story will hit home. Stafon was listing 275 pounds when the bar slipped out of hand and landed on his throat.

His throat.

I have seen people lose control of the bar and it drop slowly to their chest. I have seen people have their hand slip and it land on the floor quickly. Your own throat? Holy shit.

I would like to do my best here to wish Stafon a speedy recovery back to 100%.

This also brings up another point. We spend a lot of our time here busting athletes for the silly things they use social media for. I wanted to take some time to applaud Stafon for using social media to communicate with the millions of people who are concerned about him and his health.

I really think this is a fine example of how social media can be used in the way it was meant to be.

It’s ironic that Green Day’s “Longview” is Pete Carroll’s song of the day because it’s actually written about USC fans and their reaction to pictures of their own quarterbacks.

So for the fans, turn on some Green Day and take a gander…

Personally, I like big ugly lineman knocking people over.  But people like football for different reasons I suppose.
